Surviving a Terror Attack at the Olympics

Wherever there is a large gathering of people, there is the potential for a terror attack. The 2016 Olympic Games to be hosted in Brazil should be viewed as a possible target for such attempts; it will be after all one of the largest displays of differing nationalities.
Surviving a terror attack may be very difficult, especially if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is no solution for plain bad luck. But sometimes, we can make our luck; by keeping our eyes open, we may be able to spot a potential attack before it even happens, your survival may depend on it!

Looking out for bags that are unattended and reporting them to police officials, just as you do at home, or even just getting away from the site as quickly as possible, can be one manoeuvre that can prolong your life and give you a chance of survival. Just being aware of your environment and the people that are around you may save your life. For instance, if you see someone that looks suspicious in body, wearing ill-fitting clothing; clothing with a bulge and so on, it may be best for you to leave, after all, it is far better to be safe than to be sorry.

These little things may help you to identify danger before it actually happens. It was mentioned before, that you should leave if you notice anything that may look suspicious to you. But the question is, how do you leave – are you aware of the exits? What if the potential terrorist is on the side of the building where you came in? What are you going to do?
It is imperative for you then to become a secret agent! On entering any building, you should always look for exit points. This is a great habit not only for the Olympic Games, but also when you are at home. You never know when something perilous may occur. Did you know that planning how you should get out of any situation beforehand, decreases the time that it takes for you to act if something actually goes wrong.

If there happens to be only one entrance/exit point, you should sit close to it, so that leaving is still an open option to you. If this is not a possibility, it may become important for you to identify places that are safe within the room. Places that if something should happen, you would be the safest there.
Of course even if you try your best to keep safe, sometimes, bad things can happen. If you are lucky enough to survive a blast there are a few things that you should do that can enhance your chance of survival.
You should find a solid object and lie flat on the floor behind it so that it offers you protection. If you hear gunfire, you should not try to move, wait until it is completely over. I am sure that being quiet goes without saying and any movement that you have to make, it should be done on your stomach, as closely to the ground as possible. Once you have successfully vacated the area call your embassy and arrange to leave the country swiftly!
